2011 TE PUNA WHAIORA CHILDREN'S HEALTH STAMPS
New Zealand's flightless birds are raising funds for vulnerable children as the images chosen for this year's Children's Health stamps.
The Children's Health Camps Foundation is again being assisted by New Zealand Post to help New Zealand's most vulnerable children.
The Kiwi, Kakapo and Takahe feature on the stamps which will be released on July 6th. A special launch is planned thanks to our friends at Zealandia - The Karori Wildlife Sanctuary where the Otaki Children's Health Camp children will have the opportunity to meet with the Takahe face to face.
"We think the flightless and endangered birds are perfect, because just like the children and families we support these birds need our help and nurturing in order to survive and thrive," says Te Puna Whaiora Children's Health Camps Chief Executive Dr Fiona Inkpen.
"The children and families we journey with are as unique and precious as the birds who have lent their images for these stamps," says Dr Inkpen.
Te Puna Whaiora runs seven health camps throughout New Zealand providing a nationwide child and family transformative service to New Zealand's most vulnerable children and families.
It is the 82nd year Te Puna Whaiora has partnered with New Zealand Post to raise funds with 10 cents from every stamp sold going to help the children.

Status for Glenelg Children's Health Camp
Thankfully all the children who were at Glenelg at the time of the quake have been returned safely to their families and our staff were unharmed. To all of our wonderful staff who worked tirelessly to support the children and their families at that time, we say a big thank you: you are our heros.
Unfortunately the House at Glenelg has been badly damaged and the site is currently cordoned off as it is unsafe for entry. As a result, our out of home service (based at the House at Glenelg) will remain closed until we can fully assess the damage and determine next steps. Our community based social work services are continuing and will be fully restored as soon as possible.
We know that the generosity of New Zealanders to look after each other during these times will continue to come to the fore and that we will all support Canterbury to rebuild in whatever way we can.
